Now I’m not sure when my next Open Mike will be (I’m shooting for Mellow Mondays in Hollywood on Monday of next week and Gaby’s Lounge on Tuesday of next week), but I will be performing at the Have-Nots @ Uva on the 23rd of September.  That is the next goal.  To further tighten up these new jokes and add a few more balloon guy jokes on there and this new joke that just came to me as well.  Eventually I want to get into computer guy jokes, but I haven’t even started those yet, so let’s see how it goes.

First, there are a few people that I would like to thank.  Will Lopez ,  Sisqo The Comedian , and Diane Garcia for all the help they have given me directly and indirectly during this process.  Their patience and insight has helped me figure out a lot of things.  Sisqo, thanks for the stage time the other day, and that night, some things started clicking for me.  Will, I think that bringing the balloons on stage is a distraction, BUT, it would be a cool thing to use for crowd work. That’s what I normally do, and now I have the opportunity of working the crowd with the balloons which is much easier and natural for me, I can concentrate just on jokes while on stage and busting out the balloons and be my dark, dry, and sarcastic wit while working with adults….  eventually.  I would also like to thank everyone else who runs a comedy room for the opportunities I have had, including ‘The Have Nots‘,  Daniel Reskin for the opportunity coming next month at October’s Casa De Ha Ha at Sweat Records in Little Haiti, The Hilarious Basterds this coming Friday September 10th, at Just The Funny Theatre in Coral Gables, and finally, Adam Sampson and Freddie Stebbins for the stage time at John Martins and Casa De Tula.

My balloon guy jokes version 1.0 are starting to come along.  I’m usually a deadpan, low energy type guy, but rehersing this stuff in a more animated manner is getting me out of my comfort zone, and it’s starting to come along, the whole bit.  It’s a bit on the evil side, but hey, it’s comedy.  Now if anyone finds it funny is the million dollar question.  At least my latest cop joke got the reaction I wanted from the audience this past Sunday.  It just needs a little tightening on the performance side.  But that comes with practice and more stage time.  Sunday was actually the last time that I will attempt to make actual balloons on stage.  It totally messed me up and it caused me to have a brain fart.  Maybe I might bring up some balloon props, but I’m not sure.  I would rather tighten my bits up instead of making balloons on stage for now.
